Daryl Perkins was a student of Herb Steet, one of the original group
of students of Mr. Parker.
He started to study the art in 1972, consistently refusing to accept 1st Degree Black Belt until Mr. Parker insisted he be tested.
Upstate Kenpo Karate was formed in 2000, at which time Mr. Perkins was 4th Degree Black Belt. He began teaching a core group of four students in his single-car garage. After two years Mr. Perkins opened the current dojo, at 585 Saratoga Rd. In 2006 Upstate Kenpo Karate became associated with the American Kenpo Training System under 9th Degree Black Belt John Sepulveda. In 2008 Mr. Perkins was advanced to the rank of 5th Degree Black Belt. |
